The UArctic Academic Advisory Board – the Award Evaluation Committee – has selected four candidates to be considered for the 2023 Frederik Paulsen Arctic Academic Action Award, all with great potential. The winner will be announced in October at the Arctic Circle Assembly. 



Approximately 120 participants from UArctic's member institutions attended the UArctic Assembly 2023 hosted by Université Laval in Québec City from 22-26 May 2023. The participants came from 15 different countries both in the Circumpolar North and from outside of the region.




In tandem with the opening of the legislative session in January, the University of Alaska released the first in a series of informational reports to aid state leaders as Alaska confronts a rapidly changing Arctic and the increasingly globalized North.

The UArctic Assembly 2023 is being held May 22-26 in Québec City, Canada. The meeting is hosted by Université Laval. The meeting brings together over 100 participants from across UArctic’s membership.

The Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks invites applications for a Master’s student in Quaternary geology/glaciology. This two- to three-year position will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

The UArctic Assembly 2023 hosted by Université Laval in Québec City has kicked off with a day of pre-meetings and a scenic boat tour on the St. Lawrence River.
