Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk) educates competent and innovative professionals and conducts active research and development work. Home to approximately 9000 students and 460 staff members, Oamk operates across the towns of Oulu and Oulainen, with project-based activities extending throughout Northern Finland.

At Oamk, international co-operation is integral to maintaining high standards of quality. We have a wide international network of partner universities and enterprises in over 30 countries. Through collaboration with nearly 200 international partner institutions, we equip both students and staff with the skills needed for intercultural competence and operation within global environments, injecting new vitality into the northern region.

Alongside teaching, our other primary mission is research, development and innovation work (RDI) s. Our RDI work helps the Oulu region and the entirety of Northern Finland thrive. We are committed to fostering entrepreneurship, enhancing innovation, and strengthening international cooperation. We develop tools for entrepreneurship and facilitate the creation of new businesses. We participate in creating a future for Northern Finland by actively developing the region’s work and business life.

Oamk acknowledges its ecological, economic and sociocultural responsibilities. At Oamk we are committed to systematically enhancing the principles of sustainable development in all its actions.

Our strategic direction for 2020–2030 and our annual operational and financial plans guide our endeavors. The leading multidisciplinary, community-spirited and international university of applied sciences in Norhtern Finland with high-quality, up-to-date competencies stemming from close cooperation with businesses and organizations.

Our RDI focus areas are low-carbon initiatives , digital solutions and business development. In recent years, we have invested in particular in low-carbon work machine technology (Nuve-Lab), drone technology and digital cultural productions. The strengths of our RDI activities lie in innovation, state-of-the-art laboratories, development and research environments, high-level expertise, and extensive collaboration networks.

Studies in Oulu UAS

Oamk provides Bachelor and Master’s degree studies, pedagogic studies at the School of Professional Teacher Education, professional specialization and open university studies as well as supplementary training. Studies are offered in the field of Business, Engineering, Health and Social Care, Information and Communication Technology, Media and Performing Arts and Natural Resources.
