This year’s theme is “Be Inspired. Get Connected. Innovate Together”.
Algoma University’s second annual Research Week kicks off on March 7 through March 11, 2022. This second instalment will feature a keynote speaker, research spotlights, faculty lunch box talks, as well as alumni research profiles, student-centred research highlights and more!
To kick off Research Week 2022, our Keynote Speaker Trina Cooper-Bolam will present ‘Storied Transformations: Decolonizing Inherited Space through Memorial Performance’, live on Zoom at 12 PM EST. Dr. Cooper-Bolam holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Mediations and an MA in Canadian Studies from Carleton University. She is currently the Department of Canadian Heritage project lead for the Residential Schools National Monument.
Back by popular demand, our faculty presents Lunch Box Talks! Each session offers a unique opportunity to learn about research at Algoma University and our local community, as well as provide the chance to ask live questions of our knowledgeable faculty. These Zoom sessions running live from 11:45 AM – 1 PM Tuesday, Thursday and Friday will highlight short fifteen-minute presentations followed by 5-minute Q & A sessions featuring topics in humanities, social sciences and sciences.
New this year, there are three Spotlight sessions: Indigenous Research, Community-Based Research and Student Research. These Spotlight sessions allow for participants to learn from experts in each field and engage in research dialogue. Don’t miss out on the engaging lineup of speakers and events; full details are linked on our dedicated Research Week website, which goes live Monday, March 7 at 9 AM. Access the link here!
“I am extremely proud of the calibre and breadth of research happening here at Algoma University,” shared Dr. Donna Rogers, Vice-President Academic and Research.“On behalf of myself and the entire Algoma University family, thank you to the dedicated team that put this week together.
