The MEC 2017 is organized at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland, 27-28 November 2017. MEC (former NBE) is an informal and friendly conference which participants attend to exchange ideas and information dealing with media education, educational use of ICTs and learning environments.






This special issue of the journal "Education in the North" will be created in conjunction with the UArctic Thematic Network on Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity in Education. Deadline for expressions of interest and abstracts: 1 September 2017. 


Nine postdoctoral positions are open for 2-3 years (maximum until the end of the year 2020). The positions are a part of new projects centered on two themes: "Creating sustainability through materials and systems" and "Earth and near-space system and environmental change".

The annual travelling symposium Calotte Academy begins its tour from Inari, Finland on June 1. With perceptions of the Arctic as its main focus, the 2017 Calotte Academy examines the perspectives of different Arctic actors as well as different northern discourses.

The call for abstracts and registration is open for the 10th Polar Law Symposium that will be organized now in Rovaniemi, Finland, as part of the Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit Conference, and organized in partnership with the UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Law. Abstract submission is due by 30 June 2017.
