The Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation announced an open grant competition for the international scientists cooperating with Russian institutions of higher education, scientific research organizations and governmental research centers of the Russian Federation.


UArctic’s Board of Governors has appointed seven new students as UArctic Student Ambassadors, bringing the total number of Ambassadors to 21. Nominated by individual UArctic higher education institution members, Ambassador appointments are for a three-year term.




The registration for the UArctic Congress is now open, with the early-bird fee applicable until May 31. The deadline for submitting abstracts has also been extended until April 17. We welcome participants and abstracts from within and outside the UArctic network!




ICASS IX Call for Sessions

The International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA) announces the 9th International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS IX) to be held at the campus of Umeå University, in Umeå, Sweden, from 8-12 June 2017.


PhD student Anna Rönkä, from the University of Oulu, Finland, was elected to the Arctic Frontiers Emerging Leaders 2016 –programme, funded by the Research Council of Norway. Anna Rönkä is a PhD student in the UArctic PhD Program in Arctic Health, organised by the Thematic Network on Health and Well-being in the Arctic.
