III UArctic Rectors’ Forum in Khanty-Mansisk discusses parternships between universities, governments and the private sector

The III UArctic Rectors’ Forum convened in Khanty-Mansisk, Russia, on 3-5 June, 2009, to discuss partnerships between universities, government and business.
The meeting was hosted by the Yugra State University, a new university in the Khanty-Mansisk region. The meeting agreed on the “Yugra Declaration”, highlighting key issues to take into account in such partnerships.
The Rectors’ Forum elected the following members to the IV Rectors’ Forum Planning Committee: Chancellor Brian Rogers, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, USA (Chair);
Associate Vice-President Jim Basinger, University of Saskatchewan, SK, Canada;
Director of International Affairs Development Matti Lempiäinen, Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences, Rovaniemi, Finland;
Rector Irina Lugovskaya, Pomor State University, Arkhangelsk, Russia and
Rector Steinar Pedersen, Sami University College, Kautokeino, Norway.
The IV Forum will be hosted by the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, in 2010.
