The north2north mobility in Norway:

 

Application process

The Norwegian application process applies to the countries that can apply for Norwegian north2north funding: Norway, USA, Canada and United Kingdom.

north2north applicants from institutions in Finland, Iceland, Kingdom of Denmark, Sweden and France need to refer to their domestic north2north rules. They are not required to fill in the Norwegian north2north application form.

 

Inbound mobility (students from Canada, USA and United Kingdom):

north2north grant:

The north2north program in Norway finances the mobility of incoming students from north2north institutions in USA, Canada and United Kingdom. The students who are allocated a north2north grant will receive a grant that corresponds to the amount that is required by the UDI for the study permit in Norway. The grant is normally given for one semester.

Only students who reside in the country of the institution from which they apply are eligible. Online students who do not live in the country of their home institutions cannot apply for north2north funding from Norway.

Deadline for the students to take contact with the north2north institutional contact of their home institution and inform about their wish to send a north2north application for the forthcoming academic year.

February 18

Deadline for the north2north institutional contacts to send the “north2north potential applicant list” to the International Coordination Office of north2north to: mobility@uarctic.org Please note that Norway and Finland have a common application form.

 

The students will shortly receive a link to the online application form to their e-mail addresses.

February 25

Deadline for the students to submit the north2north application form.

End of March

Results of the Norwegian north2north allocation announced and circulated to north2north institution contacts.

 

Procedure

The north2north institutional contacts inform the students of their own institutions about the north2north application process in Norway.

The students who intend to apply for a north2north grant must get in touch with the north2north contact at their home institutions before February 15.

The north2north institutional contact selects the students who are eligible to submit a north2north application.

They inform the students about the following:

  • Students must prepare a motivation letter that they should include in the application.
  • Students must provide their latest Transcript of Records in English that they should include in the application.
  • Master students should enclose a copy of their bachelor diploma with transcript in addition ot the current transcript of records.
  • The link to the application form will be sent directly to the student applicant by e-mail. It is important to inform the students to check their spam box in case the link to the application is sent there.
  • Students from north2north institutions in USA, Canada and UK will be able to list two institutions/campuses in Norway or in Finland. If an institution has several campuses, students must select the campus at which they wish to study.
  • Due to the fact that the north2north allocation is made by campus to ensure equal levels of activity at all campuses, an incoming student who is allocated a grant from Norway will only be able to use this grant at the campus for which the allocation has been made.

The north2north institutional contact of each institution with potential applicants fill in the “north2north potential applicant list” and submit it to the International Coordination Office of north2north to: mobility@uarctic.org by February 18 at the latest.

The north2north institutional contacts inform the students that the deadline to submit the application form will be on February 25.

The Norwegian National Agency for north2north allocates the waivers and the grants and communicate the results of the Norwegian allocation to the north2north institutional contacts at the End of March. It is each student’s responsibility to contact the north2north institutional contact of his/her home institution to ask if he/she is allocated a north2north grant.

north2north grant


The north2north program in Norway finances the outgoing mobility from the following Norwegian institutions: Nord University, Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Sami University of Applied Sciences, University of Agder, University of Bergen, University of Stavanger - Faculty of Science and Technology and UiT The Arctic University of Norway. The amount of the grant can be seen in the Call letter as it changes from year to year and depends on the allocation of tuition fee waivers. Students who have applied for a waiver by writing a motivation letter, but have not been granted the waiver, will receive a grant amount to compensate for the tuition payments.

University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) receives north2north grants for incoming north2north students from North-America and United Kingdom.


Waivers

The students of the Norwegian north2north institutions can apply for north2north tuition fee waivers at North American and UK institutions.

 

Procedure
The north2north institutional contacts inform the students of their own institution about the north2north application process in Norway.


The students who intend to apply for a north2north scholarship have to get in touch with the north2north contact at their home institutions before February 15 and learn about the internal institutional procedure for submitting motivation letter for participation in north2north exchange.


The north2north institutional contact selects the students who are eligible to participate in a north2north exchange.


They inform the students about the following:

  • Students must prepare a motivation letter in which they describe their motivation to participate in the north2north program. 

Institutional contacts send a request for tuition waivers to the National Agency by February 16. The request should be based on the students’ actual exchange plans.

Institutional contacts send institutional applications to the north2north National Agency by March 10. Motivation letters from students must be attached.


The Norwegian National Agency for north2north allocates the waivers and the grants and communicates the results of the Norwegian allocation to the north2north institutional contacts at the end of March. It is each student’s responsibility to contact the north2north institutional contact of his/her home institution to ask if he/she is allocated a north2north grant.
