UArctic Thematic Network 'NETESDA' in Salekhard
The UArctic Thematic Network on Environmental
Training and Education for Sustainable Development of the Arctic
(NETESDA) leader Olga Alekseevich (Bakhireva visited city of
Salekhard (Yamal, Russia). The purpose of the visit was participation
in Arctic Legal Forum hosted by the Government of Yamal. Special
attention was paid to the problems of indigenous peoples of the Arctic
and modern reindeer-herding.
The project leader had informal meetings with representatives of reindeer-herding community and its Arctic leaders as well as with academicians from some Northern universities and organization on topics related to NETESDA’s field of interests.
The Forum was definitely of big use and high importance for further development and practical implementation of the NETESDA project.
