UArctic Research Office

The establishment of the UArctic Research office in Arkhangelsk, Russia was a follow-up to the UArctic Council request in 2007 based on a primary idea to strengthen cooperation among the member institutions in research.The Research Office was opened in September 2011, during the Second Arctic international forum "The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue."

The primary goal is to arrange easy access for the scientists to research field sites in the Arctic. Research Office ambition is to accumulate knowledge on the Arctic research and to promote networking available for the researchers both within Arctic region and outside. Since the Research Office was established, it was immediately involved into the UArctic research policy development.

The Mimir group is acting as the Research Office Board. Mimir and the Research Office will continue to promote UArctic involvement in research initiatives and will serve to consolidate UArctic's research capacity, with particular emphasis placed on enabling UArctic members to contribute to Arctic Council working groups, IASC and IASSA.
